It is better to wait until you go into labor. The labor is almost easier if you wait for it to occur naturally. There is a risk to going over, the baby can out grow the ability to supply its needs, but it hardly ever happens a week over. Even two weeks is unlikely for this to occur, so the best thing is to be patient. As long as youare feeling plenty of baby's movement, the baby should be fine. So patience pays off.

Most say two weeks. I'd only go for a week, week and a half tops. In the mean time try some natural stimulators like sex, your partner should nut inside because his sperm has a chemical that can cause the cervix to ripen and dilate. Also try nipple stimulation, sometimes pumping can work to start contractions. Just don't pump too intensely and stop if you become overwhelmed by the amount of pressure you feel, the labor has begun and need for intervention isn't necessary at that point. If you enjoy tea, try raspberry leaf tea, I don't believe you have to go to a health store to buy this. It should be available at your local Wal-Mart or grocery store. If any of these begin contractions, walk and have sex. (don't try the sex if your water is broken or you believe it's a possibility that your slowly leaking your water. Good luck and know that plenty of Moms are in the same situation as you're in. I'm 39+ weeks and waiting till I'm almost 40 weeks before starting the natural inducers. Congratulations!

They say you can be two weeks overdue before inducing. I was 6 days late with my first and they induced me. With my second the doctor stripped my membranes at 39 weeks and my daughter was born that night. I would ask your doctor about that. I hope this helps. Congrats on the baby!!!!

your calculations and the docs coculations on your due date can be diffrent it is normally safe to go up to 2 weeks over do depending on the groth of the baby and that everything is still intact , most docs will sday give or take 2 weeks from the due date actually given , so u can have the baby 2 weeks before the due date given or even 2 weeks after , and if the baby looks small for as far along u r they may even go longer , rember each pregnacy is diffrent
The normal length of pregnancy is from 37 to 41 weeks. Postmaturity refers to any baby born after 42 weeks gestation or 294 days past the first day of the mother's last menstrual period. About 7 percent of all babies are born at 42 weeks or later. Other terms often used to describe these late births include post-term, postmaturity, prolonged pregnancy, and post-dates pregnancy.

My friend was just induced 2 and 1/2 weeks after her due date and only because she began to diliate. Another friend is almost 3 weeks overdue and they are telling her as well to wait and see. I know it is rough and you are done being pregnant and just want to meet your baby. Just hold on and relax, walk around and the baby will come in due time.

my doctor was ready to induce me at 39 weeks... well at 39 weeks we talked about setting up a day to be induced if i hit my 40 weeks.... at 39 weeks and 5 days i went into labor, they were gonna induce me anyways, because when i went to the hospital they seen my fluid was low... but i heard that some doctors like to induce or talk about being induced anywhere from 39 to 41 weeks.

the docs usually give you until about 42 weeks of pregnancy before they will induce cuz at 42 weeks the placenta can start to pull away from your uterus nad can cause the baby and you problems. hang in there and congrats!
