Sarah,
As you might guess, it could be any one of several things making Grayson sick enough not to eat. Feel free to email me the pics you have of him and also include the tank size, temperature and other things you notice about the way he is acting or the way his looks have changed. magicman116@yahoo.com

Does the film look white and slimey? I have had gold fish in my aquarium for years. If the water you have is cloudy at all, You should of course change it The water sometimes has too much ammoinia from the fish "doing their business",and it is making them sicken and die from contaminating their water. This can be changed by using a ph balancing product, but you have to be careful not to use more than the recommended dosage. But sometimes what the aquarium really needs is a " fungus" killing liquid that is sold at pet stores or any reputable store that has fish supplies. Please read the lable and follow them exactly! If you are running an aquarium filter it will help remove some of the things that irritate fish. It sound like your fish may have a fungal infection that gradually kills it without treatment. It is called "ICK" I know that's a dumb sounding name but please go to the pet shop and get medication just for this, if you could bring pictures of what your fish looks like,,then good! You have to act fast through for fish don't live long with this condition. There also is a newer product that covers a range of conditions that make fish sicken and die. Please ask a person that works with fish and good luck!

What is his water quality like? It sounds kind of like ammonia posioning
You can try doing a 25% water change every three days to keep it clean, until he gets better
Check out this website, they have great info on fish diseases

OK, this happened to my Japanese fighting fish. He was beautiful, until he got something that looked like foam/mold. He started not eating, and he was swimming on his side. He was losing his fins! I was worried, but I didn't want to go to the vet, I mean, what could they do?
I don't know if this is what your fish is suffering from, but if it is, I have to tell you that mine died. I hope yours is different!
I tried everything, changing his food, moving his tank, cleaning his tank, EVERYTHING. He just seemed so miserable.
I hope i helped, and not just dissapoint you!

Sarah,
If you have the water parameters, PH, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia and water temp that will help Magicman too.
I sure hope you are able to resolve this problem.

Sounds like your goldfish's days are numbered. Maybe the tank needs cleaning out, or too much food has spoiled the water.
