Is it true that Marty Shottenheimer got fired from the chargers team? I know some coaches left but did Shottenheimer leave?

no he got fired..the owner of the chargers was sick of the chargers having a great season (won the most games in the regular season, 14) and then making it to the playoffs and not doing anything. A lot of the owners today are snobbs, and all they want to do is win the super bowl, and if the owner does not think the coach is capable of doing that, he will most definitely get fired.

Unfortunately for the Chargers it is true. The front office had to blame someone for not getting into the Super Bowl and even though Marty had a 14-2 record, he was let go. It is one thing to fire a coach because his team under preformed throughout the whole season, but to fire him for losing one game and then say that he couldn't get along with the front office is ridiculous. Coach Schottenheimer should have been treated with the respect he deserves and to think they can replace him and still expect to come back and contend for a Super Bowl is a slap in the face. Let's face it, Marty got the most out of his players and is well respected throughout the league. I think the owner should take a look at who did the firing and say "Why couldn't he get along with Marty?" Good Luck Coach S., you won't be out of work long!

Marty Shottenheimer was fired because he and the general Manager did not see eye to eye, what broke the camels back was the departure of most of his coaches and Marty was not doing anything to stop them, now the general manager is on the hot seat if the Chargers don't make the playoffs

Yeah, he got fired. AJ Smith hated Marty. I personally think that the Chargers should have kept him for one more year. If they didn't make the playoffs or actually win in the playoffs, then they should give Marty the boot. Hopefully Spanos hires Rex Ryan for HC!

The president and him disagreed on people who should be traded and the coaching staff and Marty and the president were barely talking so he got fired

You are a little late, but yes he was fired. Him and the owner were having disgreements. He didn't win a playoff game. He wouldn't sign a new contract at the end of te season. He let both his coordinators get away and then wanted to add his brother to the coaching staff.

nope, unfortunately he got fired. I think the team screwed him. They made sure no jobs were available. But if they were smart they would have fired him and had their pick of the best coaches out there. It would have been the best available job because they have a top notch team.
