Czech Republic was great!! I had a fantastic time there!!

I only went to Bratislava in Slovakia and was really, really unimpressed. The people there were not friendly and apparently really didn't care for anyone who spoke English. It was bizarre - i never faced that type of situation before. Luckily, there was another stranded american so we all banded together and got lost by ourselves. The town was only ok - the biggest draw is that it was cheap. If you want to go to drink & party, the place is great. If you're looking for culture, architecture, art...there are far better places to visit.

I loved Budapest! It had so much spirit & action. I went to visit the palace, the parliament, the grand market and a turkish bath. The prices was very good compared to other countries like Austria (VERY expensive) and Prague (has gotten expensive).

Croatia (Split), Poland (Krakow), Germany (all over!), and Slovenia are also great places to visit. I would avoid Bulgaria - it's still a bit on the rough side.

Have fun!

hello, I live in Hungary. here are many fantastic beautiful towns, some examples:

- Eger: if you want to visit historical places. It has a great night life with clubs, concerts etc., and during the day you can visit the castle and interesting places. The famous Hungarian "Egri Bikavér" [bull blood] is from Eger too. ( http://www.eger.hu )
- Visegrad: palace of Matthias Rex, beautiful panorama (Danube-bend), i dont want to go into details, one of the most beautiful places in Hungary.
- Győr: a beautiful town in the west of our country, Hungary's second richest town in historic buildings outside Budapest. The main square is one of the most beautiful Baroque squares in Hungary. You can visit the Churches, palaces, museums, characteristic corner-balconies and narrow lanes.
Also you can visit here the Rába-Quelle Bath. ( http://www.gyor.hu )
- Lake Balaton: do not miss it, there are many beautiful places around it, but i suggest to visit Tihany, Badacsony, Szigetvar (!!!!) and Keszthely. ( http://www.balaton.hu )
- Héviz: not far from Lake Balaton, if you like hot water baths. (find further details on the net: http://www.heviz.hu/en_index.php )
- you can also visit the Opusztaszer National Historical Memorial park, it is in the south of Hungary: http://www.opusztaszer.hu

and, of course, Budapest.

if you want to find more interesting places, visit the http://www.vendegvaro.hu/en/ website.

If you go to Budapest, I highly recommend doing a walking tour with this company, they are EXCELLENT:

They also do pub tours and Segway tours, and have an internet cafe directly behind the Opera House where they give out lots of free information. Very helpful people!

Oh and they do bike tours as well:

have fun in Budapest, it's a great city...
