Why don't any more modern music artists make concept albums (ala Tommy and Quadrophenia by The Who and Desperado by The Eagles)
I love concept albums because they weave one story or theme through and entire set of songs. The last great one was Desperado (before I was born), although Pete Townshend has done a few lesser ones in the last 20 years.
There are so many great songwriters out there in rock, hip-hop and country. Why hasn't anyone done a conecpt album lately?

If you like Rush, you should definitely check out a band called Coheed & Cambria - They have 3 albums, all of them different chapters in a fictional story. Another band, Armor for Sleep, also does exclusively concept albums. There's quite a few bands out there, you just have to search for them. :) The Mars Volta is also another excellent concept band, especially their first cd.

Because, my friend, the audience volume has drifted to salivating over the next bimbo with a hip-hop track.

I want the next Pink Floyd's The Wall. You want the next Green Day - American Idiot. The average rap-minded idiot wants sex drugs and crunk.

Might have to write the next good one with you.
