We are driving to Florida early sunday morning and are concerned because the highway was closed because of snow and ice. Is it in better shape now? Thanks

Route 78 is scheduled to be opened this afternoon. Take the Turnpike - it's open and probably easier - definitely clearer.

It was reopened Saturday Feb 17th about 4pm, I drove 78 & 81 from Harrisburg back to New Jersey and can attest to the fact that its A-OK and wide open. Just watch out for spots that melt and re-freeze.
Oh, and if you want a great hotdog go to Yocco's, Route 78 Exit #49 - - take Route 100 south for 1 or 2 traffic lights. Yocco's is on the northbound side.

They are clearing the road now, and at this time, it is still closed in the east bound lanes. You may want to take an alternate route through PA.
