For all those who are saying there is no such thing as a false positive pregnancy test result, you are either ignorant or just dumb. It says in the instructions that it is possible, though rare. There are many things that can effect the accuracy of a pregnancy test and give you a false positive result. These include:
exposure to certain soaps or detergents (if you peed into a cup and dipped it in there and it had soap residue in it-thats why they say make sure the cup is clean)
the woman is on fertility drugs or HCG injections in order to get pregnant.
other drugs like anti-convulsants, medications to treat Parkinson’s disease, certain tranquilizers, and certain diuretics.
Trophoblastic tumors in the reproductive system can do this and also make her feel other "pregnancy symptoms" like nausea vomiting and may cause her belly to swell.
And yes, to anwser your questions, she can "fool" a pregnancy test. Hysterical pregnancy otherwise known as Pseudocyesis is a medical condition in which a woman wishes to be pregnant so much she tricks her body into feeling the symptoms. In extremly rare cases she can have elevated HCG levels that would be enough to cause a false positive test result.
Though, in my opinion, I can't comprehend this happening. And I also doubt she would have 3 positives as a result of this. Maybe her medications are effecting it? Ask her what meds she's taking...if she really is pregnant she's in for some trouble if she is fighting with her boyfriend and he really hates her. And if she is I hope she didn't get pregnant just to keep him around, that is sad.

when a women is under a lot of stress her hormones become unbalanced, which could cause a pregnancy test to come up positive or your friend could been really pregnant.
I have had this problem where a have taken two pregnancy testes and i have got a positive and a negative. I went to the doctor and found out I was not pregnant.
I think your friend should go to the doctor to find out for sure.

although I don't beleive it is completely impossible for a test to state pregnant and be wrong, the chances are so slim that it might as well be impossible, especially with two tests. It is more likely for a test to state negative when it is indeed positive, due to hormones not at a rise as much as needed to read. The chances of the other way, I think would have to be a manufacturing error.

"Pregnancy tests detect the presence of a hormone called human chorionic gonadotropin, or hCG, which is produced by the developing placenta soon after an embryo attaches itself to the uterine lining. The amount of hCG present in a woman's body increases rapidly in the subsequent days. Home pregnancy tests are based on the presence of hCG solely in the urine, though your physician may also use a blood test. HCG is measured in thousandths of International Units, or mIU. The most sensitive tests can detect hCG levels as low as 15 to 25 mIU. This level is present in the urine of most pregnant women about eight to eleven days after ovulation or about the first day after a missed period. With less-sensitive tests, you have to wait longer for an accurate result."
So no she cant psyche her body into faking a positive pregnancy test.

The test looks for a hormone that is only read if there is a pregnancy. Sometimes it will read negative if the level isn't elevated enough, but it will not read positive if the person is not pregnant. Time to buy a shower gift :O)

Sure, if she inserted some pregnant ladies pee into her vagina, and then took the test, after breaking the device that was used to hold the pee in place. Or hey, maybe she time traveled into the future to the day she became pregnant, peed on the stick that she brought with her, and then came back to this day and age to show off her double pink lines!! Wow, the possibilities are endless!

Well, She has tried more then one pregnancy test therefor most likely she is pregnant. But sometimes a woman can convince herself so much that she is pregnant that she starts showing and she goes through all the pregnancy symptoms

I believe in mind over matter but I am a scientist and have to say I don't think you can fool a pregnancy test. She should go get a blood test to confirm.

I'm not sure its possible. She might actually be pregnant. Noramlly you can fool your body with the signs and symptoms, but not normally with the hormones. Good luck
BTW yes there can be false + HPT's, but normally you don't get 2 of them. Also if they are not read within 10 minutes they can show + after that.

listen you might be able to lie to people and fool alot of things but a pregnancy is not one of them (unless someone else is taking the tests) because of the hormone that it detects is only detected in pregnant woman hope this helps
