I turn off the ignition and come back out and it will not start. Only loud clicking from solenoid on firewall. I jumped the solenoid, still only a loud click from the solenoid. What could it be? I have to get to my children.

It is quite possible that your battery has gone bad. Depending on whether it is the sealed type, or the kind with the caps, makes a difference. Also the age, and type of the battery. If it has the caps on top, and you never checked the liquid levels in there, and never added distilled water, the battery is fried! A sealed battery doesn't have to have water added. If your battery is near the end of its life, and you drove a far piece, i'd guess it is done-stick a fork in it!
Or, if the alternator was overcharging, that would damage the battery, too.
I'd say, you probably will need a new one.

You said it would not Jump from the solenoid. But the solenoid makes a noise. This worked for me.Give the solenoid a firm whack(that's a tecnacial term) with a rubber mallett, hammer ect. give the starter body a cupple firm one's also.A starter with a weak bendix will free up in most case's.Still wont stard.I would check all my connections then bench test the battery, selinoid.

Sound's like a dead battery to me. Did you leave the lights on? Also weak batteries go dead in the cold. It can surprise you. Go over to an auto parts store have your battery tested. If it is weak replace it.
