Fail? Your debt doesn't look good. On the otherhand thinking of woosing out without seeing it through speaks volumes about your lack of character. You appear to be one of those who are so afraid of failing that you will never succeed! That means you will be a failure. Oh well, go find the razor ...Oh wait... You did try something (applying) so maybe there is hope for you. The trick for a successful life is balance. Balancing a good attitude with realism. Balancing risk taking with reasonable risk. Your credit check will determine what kind of debtor you are. If your credit rating is lousy, then that inattentive, careless (or worse) attitude about money probably means you will have the same attitude about your job. So its not so much the amount as it is the way you handle it. Its only one factor they look at. If you interview well and they haven't recently been burnt by someone with real money problems then a bad credit rating (not the same a a mere couple of k debt) won't mean much. If you have a bad c.r. be prepared to address it next time you're being interviewed since most employers now days do credit checks.

A debt of 2-3 thousand isn't so bad. As long as the rest of your history is clean I wouldn't worry about it.

You can still pass the background check because a debt is not a crime which is not included in the denial of job applications.

usually a backgorund check doesnt consist with a financial check,,u have to give seperate permission for that,, no i wouldnt think they can use ur financial history, however my company just got bought out and they say they can refuse to hire anyone who has had financial trouble or even fire current employees, i dont know whats border line legal there,,, we even had to give them access to our financial records..but in those cases its not a matter of how much debt u have, they are more so lookin for bankruptcy, bounced checks stuuf like that,,, i had like 3000$ in hospital bills and it didnt effect me

I don't see that as a problem, debt, everyone has it. They are looking for criminal charges and things like that.
