if you are a trendy, fashion obsessed person, the next outfit demands matching shoes(sometimes a dress needs mre than 1
pair of shoes 4 u) so u buy good looking (expensive) ones
if u are a tomboy,i -don't- care- if- i'm- wearing- last- years- fashion- or- not-sort of person , nothing short of a disaster 2 your shoe can make u buy new ones. so u buy comfy but not pricey ones
personally i prefer unbiting,soft comfy shoes in which u can
walk like a human being,not an ape

If I buy SHOES they will be dress shoes for weddings, or other such special occasion. They will be black and have a textured rubber sole for good footing on wet surfaces. Or for a warm weather event tennies as for a picnic. I would be buying them only because the old ones are either getting ragged or because I have outgrown them. My current pair is six years old. You can tell I am not hard on them.
90% of the time I wear boots for the comfort and the security they offer. When I replace my boots it would be due to the sole wearing smooth so there is no longer any grip left on wet or snowy surfaces.

comfort, I don't care if they're not sexy, I need shoes I can wear and be comfortable in, not crunched in them for 5 or ten minutes. But then I'm getting old too LOL.

Comfort, pure comfort. I don't care how nice a pair of shoes look, if they are not comfortable from "day one" I don't buy them.
