Who is the first athlete who was paid to have their image placed on a WHEATIES box?

If you read the first paragraph in the List of Athletes, it says the pictures on the boxes started in 1958. On the Wheaties wiki page if you scroll down to the Return of Sports section in the History heading, you'll see that Bob Richards was the first spokesman and first on the box.

Bob Richards. Probably a little less exciting than one would expect. Oh well it is a great tradition.

By the way, I was at my parents last weekend and was looking though some old stuff in a closet, and found a Packers Super Bowl Champs Wheaties box from '97 in near mint condition! A beautiful thing.
