You will need to go to your local courthouse and pick up the proper documents, submit it to the clerk who will set up a court date. You will then all have to go in front of the judge who will ask a few short series of questions.

You case will be very easy to deal with as long as both parents are informed and give permission.

It all depends on what state you live in. Search google for something like "Pennsylvania name change minor" and you should be able to find the proper documents at your local court website. Otherwise, give the county court clerk's office a call to find out the steps you need to take.

In my opinion u should both go to court to present your reasons and opinions, You should know more about court and he should know more about his reasons!!

Personally I like Sandy as a guy name!
Its not as if your name changes the speed you run or the brains in your head, I once posted a Question asking if I should change my name, which is Ola, and every one said NO!!!

From the names your son, sandy, chose I would choose Sam!

i changed my daughters name when she was 3 months old. it was very simple. i filled out a form at the courthouse and sent it in. i was notified a few weeks later by mail that her name was legally changed. then i got a copy of the new birth certificate. you do not need to explain the reason, or even go to court. (at least that was my experience) like i said, it was very simple. now changing a last name is another story i'm finding out in trying to change my sons last name to mine.

you don't need to go to court but most people have a lawyer do the paperwork for them, just cause you don't know exactly what has to be done. probably be 300-700 dollars. or try to figure out the system yourself.

No, you can just start using the name, and notify anybody that needs to be told. This is just fine for most purposes, including Social Security.
