Leaving Oz mid May enroute to Europe for 1 yrs work. Will arrive in early evening in Singapore. What should I do that evening? Heard the Zoo is one of the worlds best.
A goer?
Love Asian food and doubt I'll get any in provincial Czech city I'll be living in, so where are best places in Singapore?
Advice please?!! Thanks :-)

I would go the one of the food centres also known as Hawker Centres, there's many all over Singapore. Very resonably priced, delicious food and a huge selection at the larger centres. One of the best, especially for seafood is near the airport called the East Coast Food Centre. Others are Newton, Lau Pa Sat and Maxwell, just to name a few. I've never been, but have heard the Night Safari was worth checking out. If you get thirsty, there's some decent entertainment in Singapore, but bear in mind, alcohol costs a small fortune there. Have fun!

I've been to Singapore awhile back. I didn't quite like their zoo. But if you're into zoos, they have a night safari there, that's better than the zoo it operates from early evening to somewhere near 3. But still, asian zoos are disappointing compared to the ones we have. I'd recommend their malls along Orchard Road but I don't think you'll be into shopping...The must-go "Sentosa Island" is definitely one of the most regretted places I visited during the trip. I'm not of much help, I was only there for a day as a stop-over and I spent most of the time at the hotel[they are REAL good!] Good luck!

well if u r asian food lover thn ths is the most wonderful place for u to try out all the foods.Remember Singapore is a food paradise.so u can find asian food anywhere in sg.specially if u go to food courts like newton, bugis,Yishun,Ang mo kio and almost evrywhere. If u go to Banana leaf i beat tht u will love the place.U can jst ask any1where is it.People will tell u .Not only the food courts,u can also try out the houcker centers too.The foods are rly nice and spicy.

Hello!
Like (miniature) Garden City warm welcomes you for your short stay here in Singapore! Yeah as you mentioned as ZOO is a good place to be. You will experience a good sight and Night Safari which will starts from 1930 hours local time. I heard that doing foot safari will be more exciting as the wild animals will be freely walking around, Don't worry about your safety! Zookeepers are there to give you protection. If you want to go for shoppe you can go around Orchard Road the heart of Singapore they will be open usually from 1030 AM to 2130PM. And another small Island SENTOSA will be nice to visit as you can enjoy some night life out there, don't forget to go for water show around 1930hours and reserve your seat early to be comfortable for 30 - 45 minutes show!!
Enjoy and Good Luck!!

depends what you like, the path less trodden will be to visit the orchid farm where you can see the hundred verities of orchids, the tropical fish farm, where you can see both the fresh & salt water fishes, sorry i forgot it's in the evening, for a couple of hours, you can take a harbour cruise it comes with dinner, & see the cityscape at night, the night safari, zoo's closed at night, go to little india, sort of like chinatown(indiantown) & get cheap electronic gadgets mp3, cameras, thumbdrives, ganes etc..
