Almost any college would suffice.

You didn't specify creative or jouranistic.

In this case, the best Ivy Leage schools would be the most impressive.

NYU
Northwestern
UCLA
Yale
Purdue
Princeton

For writing it's more about being a "scholar" and thus Harvard impresses people.

The local 2 year college will teach you something about English and writing!

But Columbia on your wall, impresses people.

Depends on the kind of writing you want to do. Journalism, poetry, screen writing, non-fiction? Different schools excel in different areas. Yale is a great school for writers in general....
