Study every night and never cram. As long as you prepare, you will be fine!

Well, you have to review what you studied PLUS study the new stuff as you get it. Then when it's the night before the test, you can just review what you have been studying.

You may not think so, but not studying just one night can make you forget almost everything except for the basics. You really need to keep up with studying.

Remember, study long and take short breaks.

The best thing to do is practice! Once you practice you'll see that you CAN do well. I always feel better if I know that I'm prepared. Also, I tended to do all my preparation alone and that is really a bad idea. If you have adults help you (have them ask you the questions and you figure out the answer and they'll help you understand why it's right or wrong) or if you work with your friends, the moral support will really be great! It's really a wonderful way to feel better about yourself if you start by having someone believe in you. And if you work with your friends, you'll see that they miss a lot of answers too and you won't feel so bad when you miss one.

Also, make sure you give yourself a break for the 18 hours before the exam. Do all the studying you can up to that point, but go out to dinner and a movie or something like that the night before. Then come home and get a good night sleep. The morning of the exam, relax and do something you enjoy. I know you think you should be studying, but if you're trying to answer questions right before the exam you're going to freak yourself out even more and you'll psych yourself out of the exam and you will do poorly. So get up that morning and have something that you like for breakfast. If you have spare time, do something fun!... anything you like to do: take your dog for a walk, read a chapter of your favorite book, watch your favorite scenes of a movie, play a level of your favorite video game... anything that you like. And once you get to the exam DO NOT talk to other people about how hard it is going to be. Talk about sports and your school or anything that you have in common, but talking about the exam before you take it will do nothing but psych you out. At that point you can't control what you've studied or what's on the exam. Be confident knowing that you've done all you can, then go take the exam as best as you can.

It's important to know the strategies for the exam too... I think the SAT is the one where you leave it blank if you don't know and the ACT is the one where you fill things in. Like any exam, don't spend too much time on any one question. Look at the question type and the answers and if it looks like too much then go on to another one and come back. If you've spent some time on a question and you've narrowed it down to 2 possibilities, fill in one and mark it to come back and consider it later if you have extra time.

I really can't stress how important it is to practice. First get someone to study with and have them explain answers to you. Then start doing exam pieces yourself and timing them. Figure out what type of question you have trouble with and have someone help you with them specifically. For the reading portions, outline (get an SAT/ACT study book (they have them at libraries so you don't have to buy them) and it should show you how to outline) the reading selection before going on to the questions so that you'll be able to locate the paragraph that the question is referring you to.

Don't study up to the moment that you start the exam... you'll just burn yourself out before you even take the exam.

After it's over, don't think about it too much. You'll get your results later and it's too late to do anything about the exam now... so go out and reward yourself... have dessert or something ;o) You've earned it!

Good Luck!!!

this is actually good thinking..if you are very confident, there's a 65% chance of getting a low grade. Do not study 24/7, don't worry TOO much, listen to some music, and GOOD LUCK!
