Why Gov.Bill Richardson is labeled as a Hispanic ,His Dad was an Anglo American is it because of his Mother?

Then Why don't the Hispanics consider him as an Anglo?What is the reason of this divide in a place as good as United States?

well one reason would be because of his mother yes but not only that , there is also the fact that he has embraced his Hispanic heritage and is not ashamed of it . i think that just like many other hispanic born Americans he does consider himself 100 percent American but also knows part of him came from Mexico ...

Generally in this country you get your race assigned from whatever race your mother was.
