In my 1995 e320 the standard 16 inch 5 lug wheels, there are 5 small (4mm dia) holes, equal distant, centered?

between the standard lug bolt holes. What are these small hole for? They lie on the diameter of the bolt hole circle.

What are these 5 small holes for? They lie in the lug bolt circle diameter. The holes are not for use in machining during manufacture. The five holes are about 4mm in diameter.
