I've been playing for a few years now and I'm in a band. We are basically alternative, rock, pop-punk. I have been looking for a new guitar and I'm having trouble. I'd say anything below 500 is affordable for me. Fender Strats and Epiphone Les Paul Standards are what I have viewed so far. Any suggestions?

By the way, my band just started off in October of 2006. We have a few songs up and we are currently re-recording better versions and writing new stuff. We have two 14 year old guitarists, a 14 year old drummer, a 12 year old bassist, and a 14 year old keyboard/piano player. Check us out!

Yes, the Telecaster!

Go to a local pro audio music store and ask them there. They will help you a lot.

I have a strat and a Les paul. If your mostly a rhythm player your carrying most of the tunes so go with something chunky sounding like the paul and put in some Kent Armstrong motherbuckers pick up`s or Emg`s. Now if you want to stand out a little try a Jackson guitar. I have a Jackson King V and it has EMG`s in it and has a lot of punch and makes a statement. I like Jackson Guitars.

If you are going to use it in a rock band. I would go with Fender, Mexican Strat is under $500 and most people I know say you cannot tell the difference from the American Strat which cost twice as much!

A Les Paul Standard is a perfect guitar for the whole pop-punk thing- solid sound, especially with the humbuckers and the neck-thru design. I like Strats, but Les Pauls just feel more solid to me.

i'd say your appropriate guess is a few variety of Ibanez or get a LTD guitar (yet with Seymour Duncans, no longer EMG actives). For $4 hundred you ought to truly set up a sturdy one in all of the two. i'd steer away from those others nevertheless yet that is only me. in the top the only sturdy way is to bypass right into a save, attempt them out.

i prefer Gibsons, but there are alot of choices out there...Fender has a more jazz and blues sound to them, but their basses are out of this world..probably you should look at Gibson SGs...maybe even a Flying V if you want to go a little out of your way....i have a fender squire as a learning guitar...i plan to save up for a Les Paul....im 14 too

You should buy a used guitar. You can get a really good guitar that way. Most music stores have a used section or they have speciality used shops.
