Question: Should evolution be taught in public high schools??

For many people it’s a controversial subject whether or not evolution should be taught in public high schools, or any public schools for that matter. There are many different views from both the religious and scientific side. This is because the main issue of the debate whether evolution should be taught or not is that many Christians are offended by the thought that the world may have started differently than how the Bible says.

My opinion is that evolution should not be taught in public high school. Scientific discoveries that may someday prove evolution has a right to be taught, but students should not have to learn how the Earth was created and how everything came into place when nobody truly knows. Nobody was there in the beginning and there is not enough scientific evidence to prove that evolution is how we came to be.

Evolution should be taught as what it is – a theory, not a fact. I believe that students should have a right to decide for themselves what they believe in, instead of having a text book/professor tell them. I also think that we should be shown evidence that may prove other beliefs, not just evolution. For example, there is a lot of evidence of a great flood, which is told in the book of Genesis in the Bible. I’m not implying that we should study the Bible in school either; first of all, that would be just as bad as forcing the belief of evolution on somebody, and second of all the Bible is more of literary study rather than a scientific. However, science classes should point out that certain scientific evidence points not only to evolution but also to things mentioned in the Bible.

To insure that your general thesis remains consistent, you should also argue that since you believe that ANY idea, or theory that is not agreed upon by 100% of the populace, is therefore not worthy of consideration, or study, formal education itself is an irrelevancy. With that in mind, we should end all academic study, and simply wait for God to send an angel, or some other emmisary, to tell us what to do.

School teaches SCIENCE. Evolution is taught as a theory in school, not fact. Even after the teacher teaches you evolution, you don't have to believe it, you just have to know it. There is also overwelming evidence for evolution. Theories in science do mean facts but written as theories. Like, the theory of relativity, you can't prove that wrong and yet, its still not called a fact. Thus, theory = fact in science.

What I'm saying is you'd have a lot longer essay if you supported evolution. There is a lot more proof for that. It doesn't mean that you will have to believe in what you write, but as long as your essay is longer, the grade is all that matters. It is more difficult to dispute evolution being taught than supporting it.

Sorry but I'm still stuck on stupid as to why prayer and the pledge of allegiance was removed from schools. I mean it should be up to the students as to whether they want to pray or pledge the allegiance. And we morons are always talking about freedom of speech. PLEEEEEEEEESE!!!
