Paleontology supports the theory that all humans came from Africans. This is the area where the earliest fossil remains of humans have been found. The reason of the skin difference can easily be explained by evolution. People farther away from the equator have lighter skin pigments because there is not enough sun and they would get melanoma (vitamin D deficiency) if there skin was too dark. And people in warmer climates closer to the equator have darker skin pigments so they do not get skin cancer from harmful UV rays from the sun. Obviously the natural selection the most fit type of people for their environment will survive longer than other people and reproduce.

That is as I understand it. We are all Africans. The racial differences you see now are recent in our history. To have an idea how fast we adapt to different climates look at a couple of groups of people.
The indians of south America that live at high altitudes in the Andes have large lung capacities and oversized chest cavities. It is believed this adaptation occured in less than 10,000 years.
Then the Laps of the extreme north in Europe. They are almost without skin pigments. Also believed to be a recent adaptation.
DNA samples indicate we all had a common ancestor in Africa.

There are several theories as to where modern Homo sapiens arose. The most accepted, and the one for which there is the most evidence for is the "Out of Africa" theory. Archaeological findings have shown that our earliest ancestors evolved in Africa and genetic analyses have recently supported those findings. When we look at our ancestral family tree, Austraolpithecus afarensis is to date, the oldest of our ancestors and they were found in Africa.
The reason you see 'racial differences' is due to environmental and evolutionary pressures. Those living closest to the equator have more melanin in the skin because they are exposed to the most UV sulight and it is the skin's way of protecting itself from sun damage. It's called adaptation. So, your teacher is accurate when she says that humans "came from Africa". Africa by most anthropologists is considered the 'cradle of humanity'.

Yes, but modern Africans evolved from ancient Africans just like everyone else, so good try with the racism.

How could that be true if some of us are Africans ? Thats like saying we evolved from some type of plant life or monkeys .That cant be true sence there are still plants and monkeys .If they evolved than they aren't any more In other words if they changed then why are they the same ? Some confused scientists lay obserd blame .They put a conclusion to a problem they dont have an answer to .So the conclusion is wrong .They should say "I DONT KNOW " instead of makeing false statements .

Yes, the leading theory is that humans originally arose in Africa, and then migrated to other continents. The evidence for this is pretty strong ... but there are still rival theories.
Here's more about this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Single_origin_theory
[And Michael ... c'mon dude. Apparently, you have no ancestors at all, because whereever they came from (England? Italy? Vermont?) there can't be any people still from there. I don't think it's the scientists who are "confused."]

Evolution is basically adapting to your surroundings over a period of Many generations. Africans are dark in color because they are in a lot of sun, the darker you are the less sunlight gets absorbed. It's a survival mechanism and it works for any species. We most likely evolved from primates not from the same species as Homo sapiens

It depends on what religious beliefs, or just beliefs you have. There are many theories on evolution, and how we came to be here.
