If you're willing to put some work into it, I recommend taking an AP class, and here's why: most colleges look more favorably on students who took AP classes and got slightly lower grades than on students who got all A's but took easy classes. AP classes will challenge you to think in ways you haven't thought in your other classes, and this prepares you for college far better than many regular classes. No matter what grade you get, you'll definitely get something out of it. Studies have proven that students who took AP classes (regardless of how they did) perform better in school in comparison to those who didn't take AP classes.

As for the specific class, I took AP Bio, AP Gov't, AP History, and AP Lit, so I can give you ideas on 2 out of the 3. I recommend choosing the subject that you like more and are stronger in, first; it's harder to focus when you aren't interested in the subject. That being said, I personally liked AP History; rather than focusing on when and where major historical events took place, you focus on how these events occured and why they occured. You make connections with other events as well. The class was a little challenging, and there's a lot of material, but I enjoyed it so much. Likewise, AP Bio was interesting, but there was quite a bit of material to cover, and it was much more in depth than the average high school biology course. You have to do twelve AP labs, which are a little annoying, but they are helpful.

If you're not overly confident, take just one and see how it goes; I took two each Junior and Senior year, and it wasn't bad at all, but that's just me.

Good luck making a decision!

Hey. I took AP Bio, AP English and AP History. I was scared to take those classes, but I'm glad that I did. First of all, we did not have as much work as I though we would (sometimes even less h/w than honors classes- my best friend took English honors and she had much more homework). Also, I really liked the fact that the teacher treated us with a lot of respect, it felt like I was in college already.
AP bio, a bit of work, AP English was pretty good, and AP history was actually lots of fun. You might want to break those down though. For example, take English and History together and then Bio (a bit more work), so that you don't have to stress out too much. AP psych sounds great, we didn't have that option; I majored in Psychology in college, I'd recommend taking that class - very interesting stuff.... My friends love the fact that I can help them out as much as I can with all of my psych knowledge.
Good luck hun! You'll do great!
Have a wonderful weekend!

I'm going to take AP US History next year. I suggest taking one and see how it goes. One AP class averages to about 2 hours of homework a night, so DON'T take more than one. I'm sure if you were really struggling, you'd be allowed to get out of it. Good luck!

When you take AP classes you need to be motivated, and it seems like you must be if you are asking about them. You will have to be prepared to work hard, but if you have a good work ethic it will defianetly pay off.

If you're willing to work hard so you do well in them then do so. They're better classes than the alternative, you might as well take advantage of your free education.

Don't doubt yourself, because you'll never know what you're capable of until you try it. Go for it! I know you'll do wonderfully! Speak to your counselor, he/she will have a better idea of how many classes you can handle. Maybe try one this semester, and see how it goes.

If you qualify to take the classes, then you should go for it!
