It really depends on how much muscle you have, your body type, etc...

To go from a size 16 to a size 12 you'd need to lose 3 1/2 inches around your waist, 4 inches form your hips, and 4 inches from your bust. Good luck! Is this for prom or something?

It mostly depends on your body type. It can range from 20 to 100....I may be a little off, it's just a guesstimate. Look at those people in weight loss commercials (if they're actually true) some had to lose 50 pounds to go down 2 sizes.

If you work your mid section the most, you'll lose faster....that doesn't apply to all people....just sayin.

Wait a minute. Why don't you think about going from a size 16 to a size 14 first? Believe me, take it one step at a time, DO NOT go on a crash diet. Smeller portions, less snacks and, trust me on this, moving aroun. Cycle, swim...whatever you feel you can do that you won't notice to much but I move around a lot...cycle everwhere, swim and dance a lot..that way you don't have to completely give up your favourite foods ( I still eat chocolate and pizza)
good luck with it

I wouldn't worry too much about the actual dress/pant size. I have 3 different sizes of clothes in my closet and they all fit. You can not go according to sizes anymore as each manufacturer seems to have a different fit.

I would just follow a healthy diet, exercise and wear the clothes that look good on you no matter what the actual size is.

My Weight Watchers leader usually says the 10 lbs per size thing, but, yes, it really depends on your height and build. I'm 5'11" and very thickly built and in the past it's taken 20-30 lbs to do a size for me.
