Hi -
Two reasons
1. They probably want to get noticed, show off their musical taste, and look cool. I knew a guy who always bumped his music, and drove REALLY slow in the apartment parking lot. He looked so stupid.
2. Rap music has really good bass. When you bump your rap, it sounds pretty nice.
Personally, I would do it, but don't want to look like those idiots who just want to look cool. I enjoy underground midwest rap, and enjoy playing it loud. But only do it in the privacy of my own home, where I am not bothering anyone, or trying to show off.

I can honestly say that when i was younger, i did the same thing. I did it because of the attention i got when people heard my music from my car as i came down the street. (Plus music sounded a way bit better than rap music do now). I did it for the girls...LOL

for the same reason they like to blast it in their house or car.
and for the same reason other people like to blast country music in the streets
or rock in the streets
or oldies in the streets
i don't think anybody blasts heavy metal in the street...coincidentally, since my point was that all music can be blasted in the street and all music can be blasted anywhere.

I'd say for the attention. And this behavior is not exclusive to one race, I've heard rap being blasted from stereos, heavy metal, oldies but goodies, jazz, etc... It's just a need to be seen.

They do it to get attention. In actual life, the only thing they would ever get noticed for would be if they shot up a McDonalds with an AK-47. So, their only possible chance to be noticed is to be obnoxious and play that rap garbage at 400 decibels. They are losers and they enjoy showing it to the world.

The same reason others blast their rock or alternative or gospel. Some songs just sound better turned up. But hey, some people have respect and others don't. What can you do?

Its a far more complicated reason than those who blasts their country rock, metal, pop, and classical music out on the streets.

Because they can. If they purchased the CD and decide to play it in their car with the volume all the way up, so be it. I blast my gospel music and I'm not ashamed of it, and if someone had something to say about it, I would turn it up louder and keep rollin.

If you like it, blast it, feel it, love it...and share it with everyone else!
I don't mind!!!! Rap, rock, pop, country WHATEVER!

It's a sign of the times. Me and my buddies used to do the same thing but with real music like Led Zep. I spell rap with a "C".
