I think the question should be where WERE the parents when they still had a chance of growing up to be productive members of society. I went to boarding school with a lot of very wealthy people. Some were sent there for disciplinary reasons, some were sent because the parents really didn't want them around, and some of us just went there because it was a really good school. Raven Simone said in a recent interview that she was basically too afraid of her parents to end up like some of the celebrity counterparts. Hopefully, Britney will wake us and become a responsible mother. Motherhood REALLY made me re-prioritize me life. Lindsay L, needs a serious wake-up call. Hopefully it won't take a near death experience. Now for Nicole and Paris, to me, they are a waste of skin. First of all, we need to stop rewarding their bad behavior by giving them celebrity cult status for having no skills whatsoever other than choosing wealthy parents. If society gave them the cold-shoulder for their negative behavior, trust me that the combined ego's of these immature women, craving celebrity status, might actually inspire them to do something gainful, possibly even worthwhile.

Too much money, not enough discipline (which is how parents REALLY show love)
I see it every day, even in the middle and upper middle class families in my area. The parents are immature, materialistic and self-absorbed. They do not want to do the work of parenting, and they think that raising a "happy" child means giving them whatever they whine for.
The children have no boundaries; and before long they either realize that they can manipulate the entire family, or they realize that they are being emotionally neglected. Either way, the kid develops a distorted self-image where either they think they are too important, or that they have no value at all.

The problem is that they have to much freedom and no rules. They think they can do whatever they want because they are rich and the rules don't apply to them that we follow. They should get a regular job like the average joe and see how our usual weeks are like: long hours and not so great pay!! That'll teach them to value what they have.

It is crazy because they do things like drive drunk, they drink under age and they use drugs and in the end they don't ever get in trouble, some how they always get out of trouble. They will never stop doing the things they do until some one stops them.

Sometimes it's not a case of where the parents are. It's proven that the more money you have the more stress you have. This is why celebrities and other rich people have these problems or commit suicide.

They have too much money, and not enough brains.
They're uncultured bimbos.
They have nothing interesting to say, so they think that by behaving like red-necks they look interesting.
How deluded they are.

Parents - living their own lives and too busy to care
Friends - right there with them sponging off their success.

They have money. More than their moms and most of their friends. No one wants to get on their bad side. Which is sad.
