If you have red marks on your breasts and they are hard and hot to the touch, you may have mastitis. You need to contact a doctor immediately if this sounds like you. Do you have flu-like symptoms as well (fever, sore muscles, headache)? If this is the case, you need an antibiotic immediately to clear up the infection. Mastitis is caused by clogged milk duct, often resulting from engorgement (which you probably got from stopping breastfeeding too suddenly). It is very painful and the best remedy is to nurse it off, but if you are not intending to breastfeed, you may want to try some cold cabbage leaves in your bra (for some reason they help to dry up the milk -- even mothers who plan to continue breastfeeding can use them for an hour or two to help fight mastitis when they feel it coming on). Also, take some hot showers and massage your breasts, and try to hand-express some milk to relieve the pressure. But if you have the symptoms of mastitis that I listed above, you need to see a doctor immediately. You may even want to consider paging your ob-gyn right now. The antibiotic will clear it up quickly and you will feel significantly better within 24 hours, but if you do nothing it will only get worse! Good luck!

WOW!!! Are you just giving birth? Look! You are producing milk. You should breastfeed your baby immediately & he should empty your breastmilk as soon as possible because you have too much milk! If you don't empty them, they will get harder and harder until appear red marks & you will have a fever, then you will get breast infection & you might need to take antibiotic. The best way! Breastfeed your baby immediately or pump the milk out! Before too late!

Do what Calliope said. Check with the doctor NOW. This can be very serious!
