In spite of the distractions, people still go to the movies. Why? why people still pay to see movies in theaters instead of –for example – staying home and watching television or renting movies to show on their DVD’s?

There is nothing like the big screen and being surrounded by the movie. Unfortunately people are getting more rude, so I may rent more. Which is sad. I love going to films at te theater.

Well I go to the movies because if its the opening night of a new popular movie I know most everyone their.Standing in line is fun when you know people. And the honest truth is some movies deserve the respect of being watched for the first time on the big screen.

The distractions are BAD... but the whole going to the movies thing can be good... it is a place to go with your family and friends to enjoy the big screen, the surround sound and all the good snacks while you watch your favorite actors do what they do best

It's more exciting to take a girl out to the movies and do the old "popcorn trick". I always had trouble though..because the popcorn tubs were always too small.
Honestly I think the idea of making out in public or having quasi sex in the dark with a bunch of people around is sort of stimulating. It means that the girl is good enough to be seen in public and you are proud of her. It means that you want to get out of your house and watch a big-big screen. Besides....I don't tolerate rudeness at the movies...I'll grab whoever is working and get things done. A good one to use is "If you don't throw those motherfckers out on their ases I will" That usually gets them a hopping.

i ask myself that question all the time. i have a HD projector in my living room and a huge surround sound system. with two huge comfy couches and all the luxuries of home. the only time i go is if it is a movie that i really wanna see right now... i.e. borat... but i also go there for dates. i actually went on my first date to see borat with my now girlfriend. seeing that was our first real date... but other than that i would rather wait a couple of months and see it at home. plus tickets and food are rediculously expensive.

I like going when I can you just can't get the same experience at home, But I agree the rudeness keeps getting worse. cell phones ( people you are NOT that important that you can not shut the hell up for 2 hours, and if you are... stay home. ) and people kicking the back of my seat irritates me, also do not bring your baby to the 9-10 pm R rated movie.

Because...its fun to be the distraction that your complaining about... its fun to laugh when no one els thinks its funny... its fun to all of the sudden tell your friend the story you remembered... its fun to eat your popcorn like starvin marvin... its fun to go out with friends and have fun... its just fun... thats why... whats the fun in sitting on a coach and watching dvds and being distracted by things that arent nearly as entertaining!!
