A powerful song for anyone is one that is linked to a powerful memory.
Mine is "Glory of Love" from the Karate Kid Movie. Ralph Macchio looked very much like my first love and it got me hooked. I also like "Alone" by Heart, as we broke up around that time. He once sent me a cd of Chicago stating that "You're the Inspiration" was how he described me so that one too is another one that I love. How sad am I and this was all about 20 years ago!!!!
Hoping that you are learning to cope with losing your grandfather. Take care and be happy.

The Manhattan project by Rush ,Hell is for children by Pat Benatar both have powerfull lyrics ! I also like midnight at the oasis by Maria Muldaur powerfull for personal reasons from years ago but powerfull can mean different things to different people Here I go again by White snake is powerfull cos its a power ballad and seemann by Apocalyptica & Nina Hagen kicks if you like German new wave stuff but there are so many powerfull songs around ,Heaven by Brian Adams is pretty good ! As is days of our lives by Queen

I know exactly what you mean. They played an Irish song at my Granny's funeral called "an Mhaighdean mhara" it's a really powerful song anyway but now every time I hear it I remember her and that day and how much I miss her.
