ok my grandmother, who is Iranian, told me that she was an Aryan, and she said that i should be jumping for joy to even be 1/4 of it! there are problems with this. Iranian are middle eastern, aryans are white, and my grandmother is acting like a racist, even though her husband is black! What do i tell her without being smart mouthed?

It's best to just nod nicely and say okay grandmother. Think what you are going to think, just don't SAY it outloud.

It is not going to matter to her what you think honey.

Before Iran, or Black or white or Aryan, that is to say any race there is Human being. And as you said that you are not liking your grand mother to be sort of racist so I think you should tell her that you are proud to be Human Being. And you are still trying to be a good human being.

I would make sure your parents are aware of her comments & then let the matter drop. Odds are, you won't be bringing her back from whatever philosophical hole she buried her head in. Nor will you accomplish anything by trying to challenge her beliefs. You're smart enough to know a bad philosophy when you hear it. Let those instincts be your guide and keep a healty distance from her & her beliefs.

She is your grandmother, so respect her. Don't try to argue or debate this subject. When she starts talking about it, change the subject.
