My cat does that too XD Maybe she wants to have a staring contest!
It could have something to do with the soup, especially if it has some kind of meat or fish in it. But then again, your cat could think that she's a human and can eat anything you can eat - my cat does that as well.
Or maybe she IS a vulture and she's dressed up as a cat and is just waiting for you to die... *evil smile*

Ahhhh!!!! Your cat is planning to take over the world in the revolution of the kitties! He/she is now planning it's dictatorship and how it's going to turn against you.....he's planning his attack, or else he's just trying to freak you out so you leave the computer and so he can go on some website that has weapons of mass destruction, or else he just wants to order cat accessories without you knowing so you get a suprisingly high credit card bill from a pet website, and you'll wonder....

I'm thinking: because it makes his/her butt warm and, yes, she wants some of your food. My cats all love positioning themselves on my various monitors.. sometimes in the most undignified of positions.
