It's crazy people abbreviate words and save themselves one whole letter, like "know" is "kno" and other times they only saved having to do one letter and make themselves look like a bad speller. Like "school" is "skool" and "night" is "nite". My daughter started texting with a girlfriend of hers who is homeschooled and just got her first phone so she doesn't do all the abbreviations yet. I told my daughter the girl probably thinks she can't spell, and is glad she's homeschooled.

Bassdog65, I did not have a clue what T9 was on my phone until the other day and I tried texting with it and figured it out. It's so cool and so much easier. Is it "T9" on everyones phone? You called it "predictive text" is that what your phone says? My daughter hates it because she can't abbreviate like you said.

your absolutely right! and if people would get with it and start using the predictive text, its actually HARDER to spell words wrong, because the phone cant predict it! people are so stupid!

I agree that it looks prettty odd to see you spelled simply as 'u' however they are probably doing it more to save space since most texts only allow a set number of characters each.

I wonder if the ham radio operators are doing the same, the ones using morse code anyhow. They are the ones that started using LOL, ROFL and who knows what else, but they only had one key to use
