I would wait until Microsoft quits supporting XP and then when the computer craps out by a new one or switch to Linux.
You will spend around $300.00 for the memory and graphics card and $150 for Vista upgrade, so I would not put that kind of money into an upgrade when you can get a new computer for close to the same cost.

I am waiting for awhile until some of the bugs are worked out and there are more device drivers available. As of now I have no idea when I plan to upgrade...my XP runs solid as a rock. If I were to buy a new PC I am sure it would come on it, but I generally build and upgrade my own, so I won't be forced before I am ready. Maybe after Microsoft releases SP1!!

well i work at staples and have been working with vista computers, seeing them in tech, and i own vista. I haven't encountered any bugs really, well at least no more then xp. the main thing you have to know when upgrading to vista is making sure your computer specs are up to vistas standards. to have good results i would suggest a a dual core processor (doesn't have to be but it would be nice) 1gig of ram and some graphics card thats capable. You can also visit Microsoft.com and somewhere on there, there's a thing that you can download (its small) and it will scan your specs to see if its vista capable. Microsoft has been releasing updates every few days to work out bugs. theres no big risk with vista. they learned there lesson with 2000 and ME

I would recommend waiting, they still have compatibility issues and new bugs to work out. I would wait and buy a new computer with it pre-installed in a few months. There are going to be software compatibility problems for a while, like iTunes and the iPod not running on Vista well. Plus the hard ware requirements are very high especially if you want the flashy Aero running.

There is no need to do it. Your PC will Die before you need to really get Vista. And when You do get your new PC you'll have Vista. IF XP is working great and you like it keep it. There really is not much difference other than how you view, and some security things in which Vista might bug the hell out of you. XP is really secure enough.

You do not have to wait to get a reliable, up to date operating system. Get UBUNTU, it's free and all of the software that you will ever need is FREE!!!
If your computer has 256MB of RAM get a full version. If less, get XUBUNTU.

I''m holding off on doing it. Let em work out the kinks first. I've already heard people complaining about it too.
