To check the amount of RAM have your friend click on the Apple icon in the top left of the menu bar, then click on "About This Mac." That will tell the OS version, the processor speed and the amount of memory in RAM that's on the iBook.

right click "my computer" > "properties" - and look down where it say's Computer. It has the info there. (ie. System Properties)
