Here's the scenario:
God gives you the life a world-famous, widely respected person. The catch is, you lived and died 200 years ago and your modern life will have never existed.
Would you choose a long-passed grand legacy (and a place in the history books) over your mundane life right now?

Xavier, you were Queen Belinda the Benevolent XXIII of Sweden, who singlehandedly conquered the Finnish Empire and cultivated the first edible sea cucumber, ending world hunger.

You would have consciously lived your entire alternate and more famous life, but it would have ended 200 years ago. So, would it be worth it to assume the identity of a long dead hero for their legacy at the expense of the life you know now?

So we get to stand here at the threshold looking back at yesteryear, 200. That is really cool. And so one would also be able to see the entirety of that famous, respected person. Including the sweat, blood and tears, the emotions and the lack of deodorant too. One would be able to determine if "once was enough," right.
I think I would decide that going back is never quite the same trip as it was while living it the first time. Even though my life may be mundane, and quiet and peaceful, my pursuing this life with not as much vigor, but able to do those things that enrich my soul, mind and body without the massaging from the outside world, just might be the purposefully course at this time of my eternal journey, and my learned wisdom would say............"here is where I belong, right now, this moment, doing exactly what I am."

Good question...
I've given it some thought, and I have to say- if I had to give up the life I have now.. my daughter, my fiance, my family... I couldn't do it. No matter how famous I was or what legacy I left, the life I have now- however mundane it may be to people looking in, is more important to me then fame or riches could ever be. That might sound silly, but I don't believe that fame brings you love- not real love anyways. Perhaps you'd be *adored* by millions, but to be truly loved to the depths of who you are by one or two people? It's worth so much more.
To me, at least.
Great question!

I would choose a the life of a long-passed grand legacy. Nothing matters to me in this modern day world, Well, nothing materialistic anyway. To me, life today, its something to pass the time. We are all spoiled selfish little brats. I would love to go back in time, to work hard for eveything I want and need, to be proud of were I come from. I could go on and on. lol Well just thought that I would voice my opinion. take care god bless xox

I think I'll stick with what I have now. Ending my existence is like committing suicide, which I am not quite ready to do. And also I can't experience my life in the past from my existing life, how am I to know what kind of life I had. Life always has hardships no matter what point in time we are talking about. I'm not interested in facing unknown hardships in the past. It's better to face known hardships in the present life. At least I have a fair bit of control of my life now.

My present life is what matters now-- i wouldn't exchange it becasue i believe this is where i need to be at the moment - where i can best learn-- the history is past the future is ahead of me - so i'll enjoy my life at present--no matter how mundane. Greatness is a product of successfully conquering the mundane things in life.

No life is mundane and fame is unimportant. I wouldn't trade what I have for any other life because mine is what I have made it with the talents I was born with. How could you ask for anything else?
The history books mean nothing to those who have left this world.

No, because modern life is so much more interesting than the 1800s, not to mention that women's rights back then were drastically limited. But if I was a man of influence and influence on others and warned of what was to come -- global warming, then maybe.

I think I would, but I'd want more info on who I'd be. I don't think I'd like to be certain people, causing war and destruction, but for the most part, I'd like it, I think. Can I choose? can I be a king or queen, or something similar?
More info required before I'd decide.
