i bit a piece of my tongue and accidentally swallowed it. is there such a word to describe this action?

I would guess 'autophagia'. This is from the Greek 'auto', meaning 'self' and 'phagein' (or something like that), meaning 'to eat'. You get the same root in a word like 'coprophagia', which means 'eating one's own sh1t'.

I notice that one other answerer (K ;) has already suggested that. Well, great minds think alike !

By the way, what did it taste like ?

well I don't know if it exists but if pescivory is eating fish and carnivory is eating meat then perhaps it is autocarnivory.

And if it isn't it damn well should be!
