I am using Mary Kay medium coverage foundation, which looks good and controls oil well but I am wondering what works well for you.

Hi there, if you are using the Velocity cleanser and moisturizer or Time Wise for combination Oily skin along with your foundation it will work even more the better!!!
And my Mary Kay full coverage foundation for dry skin works amazing, and I hardly have to use any!
Mary Kay foundation now comes in a tube that is easy to fit in your purse and it will not collect bacteria like the glass bottles would :)

I have oily skin, and these are the ones that work for me:

Velvet Perfect Compact Foundation - Shu Uemura
MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation
Superfit Makeup Liquid Foundation - Clinique
Kanebo Powder Foundation

And just today, I tried my sister's new foundation called Phytogenic Foundation (liquid) SPF 10 by a Korean company called The Face Shop - it's pretty good coverage and matched my skintone well. The label in the back describes it as a water-in-silicone formulation. It smoothed on very well and made my skin look naturally flawless and I thoroughly recommend it.

I also take oil-blotting sheets with me and these help the foundation stay put all day. I blot, then touch-up with pressed powder.

Tap foundation on with sponge or finger. Your skin will look luminous, yet natural.

To give the skin a dewy finish, moisten a gauze pad or wash cloth in astringent and gently pat your already made up face. The astringent (witch hazel is perfect) will remove the matte look of makeup, while leaving the skin radiant.

Open your mouth when applying foundation to expose the neck area and eliminate an obvious line at the jaw line.

Keep two shades of foundation on hand. One will be suitable for winter, and the other for summer skin. Most of the year, they will match perfectly if mixed together.

After your make-up application, take apart a tissue, and pat over your face. It blends the makeup together while softening the look.

To avoid looking dated (especially on photos), keep your makeup simple & natural.
(Hint: use colors belonging to the same family).

Make sure your foundation (base) is sheer & light to prevent caking. Apply it on a clean & moisturised face. Use a little bit at a time & blend it well either using your fingers or cosmetic sponge, whichever you prefer. A damp sponge would be of some help too.

(Note: 1 way to prevent bacteria on your hand from getting into that bottle of foundation & contaminating it is to pour the foundation onto a clean sponge first, & then let your fingers pick it up from there.)

The foundation shade that is right for you is one that should disappear into your skin.

Don't forget to blend foundation around hairline, ears, jawline, upper neck, eyelids & lips.

Powdering after foundation helps set the foundation, absorbs oil & serves as a boost for a flawless look.

Don't add translucent face powder when your face starts to "oil". This would make instant cakes! Use a face mist spray instead, afterwhich blot with tissue before applying face powder. Another easy way to control oil is to blot using oil-absobing papers. They are certainly a good alternative to putting more powder.

Foundations with ingredients that reflect light make skin radiant & blemish free.

Thick foundation can be mixed with some light moisturiser to give a sheer finish.
If you are dark-skinned, put on some shimmery loose powder for a radiant look.

When there is a pimple or any inflamed patch on the face, apply a soothing natural ointment (containing ingredients like noni or aloe vera) over it before covering with foundation. Or simply leave that area makeup-free until it has healed.

YOU MUST TRY IT...

It's called Kryolan, it's German.
T.Vpaint stick,
I swear by it. I almost could not believe how great this stuff is and that I'm so glad that I bought it.
It is the best on the oily/combination skin that tends to break out often. It has fantastic coverage and doubles as concelar. It can be applied with either the sponge or the Brush and blends perfectly.
It is pretty well priced at $32.00 aus dollars for the stick that lasts up to 18 months.

tip.. it works best when you heat it up in the palm of your hand prior to application.
Good liuck

Thats like my skin. I use Clinique foundation. It's oil free - so it definately controls oil, plus it wont make you break out, and while it evens your skin tone and makes your face look "flawless" it still has that natural look. It blends so well people dont even think I wear foundation!! Its definately worth the 22-25 dollars. Plus it lasts for a while! Hope this works as well for you as it does for me!
