My son is just now 7 months and at the 90th percentile in heigth and weight for his age. He's eating 4 jars of babyfood a day so to save money I decided to make some of his food to hinder the costs. Does anyone have any suggestions for foods that are appropriate and blend well in a food processor? Things like peas and green beans don't blend well (the skins remain after blending).

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, beets, turnips, carrots, and collard greens should not be home-prepared. It was found that in some parts of the country, these vegetables contain large amounts of nitrates. Nitrate is a chemical that can cause an unusual type of anemia (low blood count) in young infants. It may be safer to use these foods commercially prepared.

I made all my little ones food up until a year (when he started to get "picky") Now of course he is on table foods so strained anything is out of the question. There are even timelines on when to approach new foods at what age.

I would recommend the blender for most of your foods instead of a food processor only because I had more luck with making a finer consistancy. I just printed out all the pages (recipes, refereneces on how to prepare each veggie or fruit,e tc.) and kept it in the kitchen for quick reference.

at 7 months they ate whatever we were having for dinner. What they couldnt chew I put in the blender... no "secret recipies" :)
