Juan Sebastián Elcano (Guetaria, Guipuzcoa, Kingdom of Castille, 1476 – Pacific Ocean, August 4, 1526) was a Spanish explorer. He commanded back home the first successful expedition to circumnavigate the globe in 1522.
---------------
Ferdinand Magellan (Portuguese: Fernão de Magalhães, IPA pronunciation: /fɨɾ'nɐ̃ũ dɨ mɐɣɐ'ʎɐ̃ĩʃ/; Spanish: Fernando or Hernando de Magallanes; Spring 1480–April 27, 1521) was a Portuguese born maritime explorer who, at the service of Spain, attempted to find a route to the Spice Islands of Indonesia,. Popularly, this voyage became known as the first successful attempt at world circumnavigation. He did not complete his final, westward voyage; he was killed during the Battle of Mactan in the Philippines.

A lot of people think it was Magellan but he did not complete it as he was killed before the finish.
It was in fact one of his crew who had been captured in the Phillipines on an earlier voyage and joined his attempt to circumnavigate the world.
When Magellan's ship reached the Phillipines this man became the first person to have travelled round the world but I have forgotten his name.
