I just got the new computer hooked up, it's a Windows Vista. And I have a problem with the speakers. No sound comes out, even when I turn them on and fool around with the volume. I am sure I have them connected to the right places. The speakers are something called acer. There are two speakers connected with a wire to eachother then only off ONE speaker there are two more wires coming out. One that hooks into the computer and the other one is supposed to be a USB. I don't know what to do. And please don't just say 'you shouldn't have bought a windows vista' or something stupid like that.

Double click on the speaker icon in the Systems Tray (bottom left of your screen), make sure everything is unchecked and the sliding bars for volume are up. No speaker icon.? Click on Start, choose Control Panel, then Sound/Audio Devices, click on Advanced and do the same. Still no sound? Plug a pair of headsets into the computer where the speakers go. If you hear sound in the headsets, it's your speakers, if not then it could be your sound card. Chow

You may have to go into the control panel by clicking on it at the start button, there are usually something on the control panel having to do with the sound system. Maybe you have all the right wires connected by you have not told the computer to use them yet. Try the control panel setup for sound, speakers and audio.

try to make sure that they r in the right spot and all of the way in. or go in to ur control panel and go into sounds and devices. or u have a little speaker in ur tool bar and make sure that ur sound is on. if its on ur keyboard turn up the volume and do something with a sound. if that doesn't work, well I'm out of ideas.

no offense but the brand acer is really bad. the products they make last an average of one year. even their laptops. i would say that it is not the vista's problem but instead, the speakers are in fact broken. send it back to acer and see what the problem is. good luck =]

Did the machine come with instructions? Check for a quick start guide and double check your connections.
