I don't know if it's 'normal' but I can identify with what you are saying. I didn't think I would live past the age of 19 (though my reason was I was raised super religious so the world was supposed to end in the year 2000). I was never able to picture the 'future' since in my mind there wasn't that much future left to be had. Though I have managed to make it past 19 (I'm 25 now)... I do find contemplation of my own death in occupying my thoughts a lot (though like you say, I know it will not be because I harmed myself.)
Some people just know things.

No, you're not nuts. We raise 3 daughters, and now have 4 grandchildren. So far we're doing okay! As a mother, the best you can do is to keep him close when you're out, and teach him safe habits. When you reach my age, you look at things differently. At least I do. Sometimes you see the world as so messed up, that you wonder if you should have kids. But when you see them, you're glad they are here to share life with you. I feel that God listens to us, and knows what's best, even if we can't possible see it that way. It can get deep. In the overall scheme of things, the earth itself doesn't seem to make a lot of difference in the universe, but in our small universe our children can mean everything. They are our replacements, to go on where we leave off.
People get caught up in so many trivial concerns, that many of the riches of life are totally missed. Being human, and being able to love someone is to me one of the most remarkable things in life. Life has so many wonderful things to share, if we just take the time to look at them. Have faith that God will keep you safe.
I tried to look at life without God, and I couldn't see why I should bother with it at all. If it's all a scientific answer, it has little meaning.
I'd pray that God would help me to keep my head straight, and direct my thoughts on doing right for my child. There's only so much we can control. The rest has to be his. Take care.

RESPONSIBILITY is a HUGE deal and becoming a parent seems to have hit you hard recently! Try to relax and just wallow in the love you have for this precious gift you have been given! Accept him and just love him to pieces! You seem overly stressed out. Perhaps it is something completely not to do with thie child? Just continue to do your best in raising him to be a good contributing young man with a good education who can become self-sufficient when he grows up. That is your job as his parent...to guide him through life as best as you can! As this important job progresses along, enjoy all the good times you have been given to share with him! Relax. No one ever said parenting was easy. We all mess up sometimes, but it can be such a fun ride if you let it be! Good luck, sweetie!

Well, basically, your stuck on stupid. No offense. What I mean
is your mind is obsessing over something. So when ever you
think unpleasant thoughts..keep on saying to yerself..STOP!!
And try to think about something else...it's like learning how to
re-program your brain. Don't worry about things that are not
happening right now. LIVE IN THE NOW. Not the "future". You
cannot predict the outcome, anymore than the rest of us. So,
just relax...and learn to LOVE LIFE. Worrying will get you
nowhere. Stop spinning your wheels. ya hear ?

i think you are just scared of the future...not knowing what challenges you are going to face or maybe you worry if you're gonna be a good mother or if you'll be able to give your son a better future. sometimes people become paranoid because they are scared to face tha unknown....you're doing GREAT!!! you're a GOOD mother and your son will have the best future there is!don't let this emotions...this fear distract you...always be focused and think of the bigger picture. i think your son is lucky for having you! keep up the good work and God Bless!!!

i`m not a doctor, but it sounds like you have developed your own coping mechanism for the worst that you may face..and perhaps you have some experience at that..if you have never spoken to anyone about this..perhaps you should see your doctor ..he may be able to alleviate your fears by pointing you in the right direction..good luck!

Maybe his spirit knows he won't be spending much time on earth. Or do you talk about death around him?
Death is inevitable.
