Okay, so obviously the media has labeled Hardaway a racist, but all he was doing was voicing his uncomfortableness in the locker room. The lockerroom is a place where athletes can get their head in the game and burn off some adrenaline after the game, so he was probably just tensed up from the game when he made the remark. I mean, there's no Gay Men locker room. I know Gay rights groups say that gays don't act crazy in locker rooms, but think about it, if there were 10 straight men showering in the locker room and one gay guy, you don't think the gay guy would act differently? Of course he would! He'd be checking them out, which is nasty and uncomfortable to me.

I personally think this country is going to hell in a handbasket with all this political correctness. I don't owe anything to anyone, so why do minorities and gays think they're special?

What's to misunderstand he stated the truth.
Being gay is not natural, your not born gay your just screwed up.
When did religion leave this country? I'm sick to death of seeing these people everywhere this is not acceptable behavior and I do not want my kids to be exposed to these losers. Tim Hardway I think deserves 5 grammys.
I'm not homophobic I'm pro Bible. And I'm not judging I'm expressing my dislike for the abomination that is being homosexual.

First thing I am a Jamaican as even though I don't not believe homosexuality is natural, I do not HATE gay people nor would I ever declare to the World that I hated them if I did.

The US may talk about "freedom of speech" BUT there are still consequences for speaking your mind and Hardaway was wrong to answer like that.

Granted I don't think he would have answered that way if interviewed under different circumstances but you can't deny what he said and the way he said it.

Lastly, it is totally wrong to say that the gay guy in the locker room would be checking everybody out - that is stereotyping and just as take offence when people assume that ALL Jamaicans smoke weed, I am sure a gay guy would be offended by you assuming that he would be checking everybody out.

There is no doubt that he has the right to say whatever he wants to say. As ignorant and uneducated as he sounded, his views are his views.

But, the NBA, and the different owners throughout the league are business men, and are there to make money. They have the right to express that they do not agree with him at all, and not to be associated with that mentality as well. While some of them may even agree with him, they are interested in one thing. Money.

When you are a public figure, you do not lose your right to say how you feel. But, the price of that is having those fans out there who pay you salary decide to take their money elsewhere, just like any other business. Just ask the Dixie Chicks about that. She said what she said, and had every right to. But, their checkbooks were effected by that.

Let's put it this way. A true businessman doesn't see gay, straight, black, white, red, or yellow. He sees green. I don't care what color you are, what you believe, and how you live your life on your time. If you can make me money while keeping my expenses to a minimum, you are the person for the job. But, if your lifestyle or beliefs start to cost me more money than I am making, you're history.

That's business. No one is saying he cannot express himself. They are just looking out for their business, and the bottom line.

First of all, he's not being labeled a "racist." He's not talking about a race of people. He's being labeled as homophobic, because he is. He even said so. Is there anything wrong with that? NO! It's alright to be scared of things you don't know about. But to use such contempt over something you don't understand is truely cowardly and ignorant, especially with the resources for education he has available.

The only reason gays think they are special is because you continue to treat them "special." Stop pretending that they aren't human and maybe you won't get such a reaction out of them.

I have a question -

Where, in the statement "I hate gays" do you get him stating his comfort level standing next to a homosexual in a locker room? And how is he going to know he is unless the person next to him tells him??

He is homophobic (which he fully admitted). He has the right to say whatever he likes to anyone he likes. But in doing so, he also has the right to listen to everyone oppose him and say what an idiot he is for stating such things.

Conclusion: No freedom is absolutely free. Including freedom of speech.

Gay is not a race.

I'd say Hardaway is being penalized for speaking his mind.
