I've heard so many people dis those who refuse blood transfusions. They try to say that they don't want healthcare, or that they have a suicide pact. I've heard many say that people die because they do not get blood transfusions. However, I have heard many doctors say, that those who don't want blood transfusions just want the best healthcare. Many doctors have also said that they have never lost a patient because they didn't get a blood transfusion, and that many of the doctors who insist upon blood transfusions are either ignorant or are careless. There have been many major surgeries (even open heart surgeries, hip replacements, and knee replacements, just to name a few) that have been done w/o blood transfusions. Also, many people die each year from complications caused by blood transfusions. There are many alternatives to blood transfusions (cell salvage machine, epo, blood thinners, hemodilution, among many others), so why dis those who choose not to have blood transfusions?

Actually, doctors perform these on little or no warning everyday for those who will not for any reason accept blood transfusions.

Actually, all blood transfusions do is take up volume for the first day. It takes a while for the blood to adjust to the new body, however, Non-Blood expanders can carry Oxygen right-away!

because thoes surgeries are planned and can be planned for.
blood transfusions save lives, millions of lives a year are saved from blood plasma ranfusions. and very few problems are caused with the screening processes that we have today.
when somebody looses 4 pints of blood as the result of a sudden injury there is not time to use alternative methods. that person needs something to carry oxygen to the brain NOW. or they will die, or end up a vegitable.

Many people have contracted AIDS from blood transfusions. If doctors were so great, this wouldn't happen. But then, that's why doctors PRACTICE medicine.....on you.
