Just go to the WoW main page. It has guides, FAQs, beginners information, and basically everything that you need to get started. It will tell you everything about the game. It is an awesome.

P.S. Turok got most of his info wrong... don't listen to him. He's trying to make WoW seem bad.

It's a MMORPG = Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.

Imagine the Lord of the Rings universe.

A bunch of people connect to that LOTR type of fantasy world (ie: the world of warcraft) through the internet and play and interact with each other in that fantasy world. It doesn't mean that all the WoW players in the world play in the same " world of warcraft world" at the same time, they can play in exact replicas on differnet servers. Think of it as a group of 5 people playing Monopoly at one table and then another group of 5 people playing Monopoly at some other table, at the same time. The fantasy world you connect to is then just a Monopoly board and the people you play with are the ones playing Monopoly at that table...

As you complete quests, your "stats" improve. The more stats the better. When you want to stop playing, you can, for example, tell your character to go to sleep....When you come back and play again the next day or whenever, the character "wakes up."

If you get killed during the game, you are not allowed to play again until a given amount of time (minutes) has elapsed. In the meantime, you can walk around the fantasy world in "ghost" form.

There is no fighting system. When you want to "fight" someone, you press a button and cast a spell. The winner, I think, is determined by the "stats" of each player. As you can imagine, it's not very exciting.

I think that's it in a nutshell. Of course, I am not a WoW fan, so take it for what it's worth.

Well, it's sorta like LOTR. there are 8 main races (10 if you get the burning crusade expansion pack) and two factions: alliance and horde, in the alliance, you have: humans, night elves, dwarves, and gnomes (also dreanei, if you have burning crusade) in the horde you got: orcs, undead, tauren, and trolls (burning crusade: blood elves) the two factions are enimies, so if you are in player vs. player, you can attack the oppisite faction without challenging them to a duel. duels are battles that characters play for fun, you dont die if you lose, you just get embaressed! horde and alliance cannot communcate, not even through in-game mail! there is no end to this game, unless you just get bored with it, and quit playing! there is a limit to how high a level you can get, I think it's 65, or 70, i cant remember, you also choose classes, warrior, palidan, druid, mage, warlock, hunter, and so on... well, not really much else to tell ya except it's addictive! well, go to www.worldofwarcraft.com for more, my fingers are starting to hurt so... see ya later!

First you need to get used to the controls. then you create a character(dark mage my preference). then you go out and do quests and fight other players. sounds fun. its not. it is like a game with no plot or end. if you like those then this game is most definitely for you. if not then avoid.
