an ipod is an mp3 player except its just made by a company named apple. They just call it an ipod but it still is the same thing as an mp3 player. and whichever one to buy is really your personal preference, I have an ipod because i need a lot of storage space for songs.. there are also many types of ipods, some hold 240 songs while others can hold up to as much as 30,000 again it depends on you preference. I recomend just a regualr mp3 player because many ppl just buy ipods for the "brand name" when you can get the same features in another mp3 player for a cheaper price.
hope this helps!! (:

I recommend the iAudio X5L, you can get the 30 GB model for about 240 bucks now and it's a great buy.
It has tons of features and the L version is a tiny bit bigger but has twice as much battery power as the regular version (for me it gets about 25 hours a week but it can get lots more if you continuously play music instead of turn it on and off a lot like I do.)
It's really customizable and really easy to set up. You just plug it into your PC and drag-and-drop your music files to the MUSIC folder on the drive. And converting video is easy, too, it comes with the software you need, you just choose X5 as the preset settings in the software, and then put the videos you want to convert in there and let it work for a little bit... then you put those in the VIDEO folder.
EDIT: As for "formats" like that one guy was saying, the iPod DOES support MP3, but not much else. It also supports the Apple format, "m4p" (which is like wma for Windows computers). If you try to put a file on there that the iPod doesn't support, iTunes is supposed to convert it for you so that the iPod can recognize and play it.

i think ur talkin about the iPod format. the iPod format is only available by iTunes and only works with iPod, iPod nano, Ipod shuffle, and other iPod music players. Mp3 format works with all music players, except iPods. so it really depends on which kind of mp3 player u have. iPod-iPod format. normal Mp3 player- mp3 format. the cant cross. ipod format doesnt work on normal mp3 players and vice versa (i know im repeditive but wana make my point clear)
