(-4) +(+3)=(-4)- (-3) = -1 rule: add a positive is the same as abs. a negative
x= -1 then
-4(-1)= 4 +3 = 7 rule: negative multiply by negative is equal to positive.
2x - 9 =
2(-1) = -2 rule: positive multiply by negative is always negative.
-2 -(+9) = -2 +(-9) = 7 rule: abs a positive is the same as add a negative
take as an example this little table:
-2 -1 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10
-2+ -1 -2 -3 -4 -5 -6 -7 -8 -9 as you see, -9 is to be located in the same position of 7 positive. when you abs. a negative from a negative then the count is going backward against of the symbol on the number(s). is the same as if you abs 3 from 5; you go backward until reach 3 right.?

Remember that taking something to the other side just switches its sign (and the same with "algebra things" like -5x for example).
-4x+3=2x-9 (now take the -4x over to the right so it becomes +4x)
3=2x-9+4x (now take the -9 over to the left to its now +9)
3+9 = 2x+4x (now add up the numbers on left & the 'x's on right)
12 = 6x
Well as the 6x really means 6 times x, when you take the 6 over to the left, you must do the opposite, so divide...
12 = 6x
12 = 6 times x
12 divided by 6 = x
2=x
So x = 2
