Why are girls being pressured to do girl things and guys pressured to do guy things? And when we go outside of what we are supposed to do, we get critizied?

Same thing happen to me when I play videogames. My sister get all critizied and says "I'm trying to make you more like a girl, don't go to the game store."

People are going to critize you for not folding to peer pressure its only natural. Basically they are jealous that you really do not care what people think about you, you will do what makes you comfortable. However, they need their peers approval. So they critize you to make you fold under peer pressure like that. They just can't stand to see someone who is confident enough to go against the grain.

There are a lot of people out there who are just plain estranged if any thing is not in step with what they think is right and wrong or ok or not okay. I personally do not believe in gender roles and am disappointed in people-especially mature adults- who expect things to be a certain way and can not accept others if they are not in accordance with what 'they' think the other person should be doing. And of course they pass on their attitude to their children or friends and family. I do what I please. I make my own decisions and have my own preferences. I do and say a lot of things that are not appreciated by people especially family members- because they think a girl should be a certain way. i even have guy friends who don't appreciate or accept some of the things i do and because they are not the stereotypical 'girl things to do’. you have to be your own person . it takes guts and security and confidence to be who u really are and u should never compromise yourself--thats the worst regret anyone can have. don't get nasty with people when they criticize you keep ur cool and just tell them that this is what you like and this is who u are and that its okay to be different and do your own thing. when you don't blend in to the crowd, it makes people feel uncomfortable because they are too close minded and the idea of being different or unique just doesn't register in their brains. don't give up what you like or love or if you have uncommon likes/ dislikes or preferences. stay strong. good luck!

The truth is we are in a mechanical world where no one thinks outside of the box. People just always do what seems to be normal. Go to the video game store I go all the time and instead of following what people be an individual. Don't be treated as part of the crowd try to separate from the norms

It is a reflection of the society in which you live. Some families and communities see the gender roles as strict and unyielding. This can be part of a cultural tradition. If you were living in a different society or in a different community, you might very well find that gender roles are more fluid and would accept you for who you are.

I think from a guys point of view, so many girls try to do too many guy things and we want girls just to be girls. Thats why we are attracted to you because your girls. But at the same time if a guy trys to do too many girl things were considerd gay. Girls can do guy things and are still looked at as girls so you see where Im comeing from.
