You can go to a junior college and get your LPN in 1 yr, your RN in 2 yrs. You will need to get your pre requisites first, this usually takes about 1 to 2 yrs( you will need advanced math, science, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology).
You can go to a 4 yr college and get a Bachelors degree in nursing (it actually takes 5 yrs), this opens up the doors to go into management. For the most part, it does not matter if you have a 2 yr RN degree or 5 yr degree as an RN if you work on the floor. They pay the same.
You can go on for a Masters degree, this usually takes 2 to 3 yrs after you get your Bachelor degree. This will give you an advanced degree.
Your PHD will take another 4 to 5 yrs after your Masters degree, this will open up the doors to teach or do research.
