Ouch! These questions are awful--not in the sense that they are difficult, but rather because the questions, and their "answers," are not correct.

Here's my input:

1. d

Vancouver, British Colombia, is the *only* of the given answers located in the New England area. However, I disagree with calling it "The original New England."

2. d

All of these answers are incorrect. As has already been stated, Kongo Gumi is the world's oldest company. However, your instructor is probably looking for the Hudson Bay Company.

3. d?

Although slaves were most definitely *not* the first commodity imported into the New World, this is the answer for which your instructor is most likely looking. Corn is out of the question, as it was an export. Beans are a probability, as are cows. My true answer (though not on the list) would be "horses" or "guns and ammunition," which were most likely the actual first commodities.

5. c?

Hawkins (sailor/slave trader), Drake (privateer), and Rodriguez (sailor) were not slaves. Smith is the only option left, although I have no clue as to who this may be.

Good luck!

1. Tampa and Galveston were both Spanish territories. San Francisco was part of Spanish California.
The correct answer is probably D - British Colombia was part of Canada, which was British.

2. Cister is correct. The world's oldest company is Kongo Gumi, a Japanese Construction firm that dates to 578.
Here is an article on the world's oldest companies:

3. The answer could be slaves, but is more likely corn.
Colombus did import slaves from the West Indies.

5. You have me on this one. There is a band named "Slave Traitor" -- their names are Marc Burno, Eric Kempton, Jake Willanger and Steve Hass.

By the way, whoever your history teacher is, these are very badly constructed questions.

The oldest company in the world that has been continuously owned by the same family can be found in Japan.
The name is Kongo Gumi. And it is now run by the 40th generation of the same family.
It is a construction firm.

this quiz is from a wiki, which is a special kind of website YOU can edit. So, I don't agree with some questions. Wrong learning.

Yo! Lucky Duck... Who gave you these answers?
The Spanish landed in Florida.. And Galviston, Texas. Those on the west coast came later... I would have to "guess" Vancouver would be your correct answer.

Go with (In the World?!!! None of these... The Medici Banking Institution was older than anything listed. So was the Bardi...) The Hudson Bay Company.

Imported to or exported from? From, Corn.

"Slave Traitor?" I dunno. Beats the heck out of me.
