Okay, we've got a Carry White on our hands! Your mother will suddenly become creepy and religious and soon after you turn 16 you will start with a near violent flow in the school showers, where the other girls will throw products at you screaming "plug it up, plug it up!" You will discover psychic powers then and make a lightbulb explode, and ultimately destroy your junior prom and burn down your house with both you and your crazy mother inside.

have fun.

Wait, no, that's just a Steven king novel. You're fine, some start young young, others start older. I've known perfectly healthy 16year olds that had not started yet, and I've also known girls that got their first at 9years old. There's no reason to worry yet.

Oh, and no, there's no way to make it start. Hormones do that, not cucumbers *could make you bleed, but that'd be your hymen busting.* Talk to your doc at your next appointment if you still need fears laid to rest.

Sticking a cucumber definitely will not help. That was bad advise. Also parsley and those other natural remedies only help after you have had a period and are late.

Do you have other signs of having entered puberty, like breast, pubic hair etc? If so, then your period might be delayed a bit. How old was your mom or siblings when they got their periods? That is also a good indicator of when you'll get yours. Are you underweight or overweight? This can also impact and delay the start of your cycle.

Remember some women do not get their periods until they are 16 - 18. Don't panic yet.

Calm down and go put the cucumbers away -grin-

Each person get's their period when they are ready - there's nothing you can do to make it come faster. You can't force it. There's nothing to be scared of in getting checked out though. It doesn't mean there's anything wrong. Many women will tell you their periods are a pain. Literally. Pads, tampons, cramps, bloating. I have to admit I've enjoyed being period free since my hysterectomy (which was a choice because of menstruation problems and other reasons).

Don't get me wrong, there is a beauty to be had in getting your period. a girl looks forward to it because we are taught that this is what makes us women. That's rubbish.

So calm down, everything is fine. I knew a few people in High School who got their first periods at 15 and 16. Mine came at 10, and twelve years later I sent it packing. It will come in time, but in the meantime don't go hurting yourself in an attempt to force it. If you are really worried about it, go to your OB/GYN and ask them for advice. I'm sure hearing it from a doctor is going to be a lot more soothing =).

hey don't worry! Don't stick anything up there. I would wait a few months and then get it checked out. You can go to your family DR and asked to be referred to a OB/GYN and request a female, she may be easier to talk to. If you are having sex make sure you are using protection like a condom.
You may want to check if you have any other symptoms that may be because of something else. Example I have PCOS (Polycisyc Ovarian Syndrome) I never really had a period more like spotting (bleeding that comes and goes) and for only a few days at a time and up to six months in between each.
Use the Net and check it out

It's uncommon, but not rare, to be 15 years old and still not have gotten your period. Some girls get it when they're 11, some girls get it whem they're 18. It all depends on your body. But do NOT stick a cucumber up there; you could seriously hurt yourself. But if you think that something is wrong, just tell your mom and go get it checked out.
P.S. Have you had any vaginal discharge for the past few weeks? That is usually a sign that your period is on its way.

It's not unusual for some girls not to start their periods until 17 at the latest.

Nothing you do will make it come faster. It will happen when it happens. Sticking things up there that don't belong will give you an infection.

Wait until you're 18. If your period hasn't started by then, get checked by a Gyn.

Good luck. :)
