No offence taken.
as you can see in this experiment fat/oil is lighter that water.
grab yourself a cup of water and put several drops of cooking oil in. The fat/oil will stay on top this is because oil is lighter.

the same goes for fat when you cook a chicken the chicken fat settles on top of the jelly because it's lighter.

Human fat is actually lighter than muscle that is why when you first start to loose fat and build muscle you often gain weight.

I'm overweight and float because i guess we have more area to float with. If this doesn't help then at least you should have had a laugh

basically, when comparing to a normal person and a fat person, we'll talk about density, being the total amount of mass per unit volume. in a normal person, there are more normal cells such as epithelial cells, but in a fat person, there is a larger amount of fat cells in the same given volume.

as fat cells contain fatty acids and normal cells contain all the organelles such as the mitochondria and ER which are complex structures made up of protein, the fatty acids will tend to be lighter.

so when in the water, fat people will have an overall lower density as compared to lean people and there fore appear to float better than lean people. in this case, this is called buoyancy

Fat is less dense than water and therefore floats. Some people are just good floaters - I could float really well even when I was skinny.

because the extra fat gives u more bouyancy. the more lean body mass u have or the least amount of fat u have, u'll end up sinking to the bottom or treading water more than someone who is fat.

the lard provides a comforting gasey bounancy while the fat has air bubbles as a human flotation device...
