Okay...I've recently started taking birth control, and my chest hurts sooo bad! But this isn't a side effect on the box? I'm only 15 and this is kind of scaring me and interfiering with my every day life...but I can't stop taking it. What could be going on? Please help!

Unfortunately, breast tenderness can be a side effect of taking the pill for some people-just like when the hormone levels shift during different parts of the menstrual cycle, altering the levels of hormones with the pill can cause similar symptoms. It's a very effective contraceptive method, but it can take some time to get used to it. The tender breasts may stop after a while, as your body gets used to being on the pill, but if it doesn't stop by the time you finish your third pack of pills (about three months worth) give your doctor a call and ask about changing pills. Each person is different and so the pill that is a good match for your friend may not be for you. Most doctors will suggest trying a pill for three months to give your body time to get used to the effect before changing pills.

This is potentially a sign that you have a blot clot - which is a potential side effect of BC pills. Usually it happens to women who smoke while on the pill, but it can happen to anyone on the pill. I would advise stopping the pill and contacting your doctor first thing in the morning. Chest pains should always be taken seriously.

You need to call your gyn and find out what is going on. Do not take risks with birth control. There are serious side effects that may not be listed on the box, that your dr should of went over with you.

Is it a pain like heart burn or is it a pain like your breasts are sore.

I have been on Tri-Sprintec for just over a year now and they do make my breasts very sore at times. It is just a common side effect of most birth control pills.

Maybe try talking to your doctor and see if he/she can prescribe a different pill or maybe another form of birth control.
